Worldwatch Institute

The Worldwatch Institute is an independent research organization known for its fact-based, accessible analysis of critical global issues. For 34 years, Worldwatch’s gold-standard sustainability research has guided decision makers in government, civil society, business, and academia.

Worldwatch has three main priorities: building a low-carbon energy system, by supporting the sustainable use of renewable energy sources like wind, solar, and biomass—and advocating for major improvements in energy efficiency; creating sustainable food and agriculture systems that are good for both people and the planet; and developing a sustainable global economy that meets human needs, promotes prosperity, and is in harmony with nature. Worldwatch also focuses on human health, population, water resources, biodiversity, governance, and environmental security.

Global in scope, Worldwatch leverages a network of partner organizations and senior fellows to reach key decision makers worldwide. With research published in 36 languages, Worldwatch findings reach countless audiences via the Internet and global news media.

Worldwatch is actively focused on developments in Brazil, China, India, the United States, and the European Union—countries that have a key role to play in solving the world’s environmental crises.
