COVID-19: Stonyfield Organic’s Commitment to Healthy People is Stronger Than Ever

On behalf of everyone at Stonyfield Organic, our hearts go out to all those impacted by COVID-19—this includes not only those diagnosed with the virus, but also their friends and family. Our focus is, as always, on the health and safety of our employees, consumers, customers and communities.

The COVID-19 public health situation is affecting all of us right now, and changing rapidly. Stonyfield Organic is approaching it with the highest level of concern, and we encourage all our customers and partners to do the same. We are following the guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), state officials, and local governments. We are monitoring the situation closely and responding to the rapid changes every day. With all of us working together, we are confident that we will emerge stronger than before.

The global response to the COVID-19 pandemic is extraordinary, but our mutual passion for health is not. The vision underlying the Stonyfield Organic mission of “healthy food, healthy people, healthy business, healthy planet” has shaped our identity and our consumer base for almost forty years. So Stonyfield Organic is rising to this challenge with a sense of duty and purpose.

Protecting our team

The health and safety of our employees remains our top priority, including providing all employees a safe place to work, and we are working continuously to identify every way to protect the wellbeing and safety of our employees. With food accessibility issues affecting so many communities right now, we think it is important to continue supplying our healthy products to American consumers as long as we are safely able to do so. We are taking the necessary steps to maintain our safe work environment, including:

• Suspending all business travel
• Implementing work from home for all possible employees
• Minimizing and closely vetting visitors to our plant
• Limiting large numbers of people in common spaces and adopting vigilant hygiene habits in our plant

Protecting our consumers

Product safety is paramount. Stonyfield Organic takes every viable measure to produce a safe and nutritious yogurt. That process starts with the care of the soil and animals that produce our ingredients, and it continues through rigorous processes for preparing and packaging our food. The COVID-19 situation has not impaired our commitment or procedures.

Note that the U.S. Food & Drug Association (FDA) has found no evidence of food or food packaging being associated with the transmission of COVID-19.

Supporting our community

While society practices social distancing and certain cities shut down, community is more important than ever. Social distancing does not relieve us of our social responsibilities. We are currently working with partners in our local community to address food insecurity, donating product to schools and nonprofit organization. Additionally, we are directly delivering products to area hospitals, and city and state essential service departments.

These are challenging times. Those of you on the front lines of this crisis are the heroes, from health care workers to grocery store clerks. We are extraordinarily grateful for all that you are doing.

You’ve been our inspiration

We want to thank our consumers, employees, retail customers, farmers and supply partners for your courage and optimism during this period. As difficult as these days are, it has been a remarkable reminder that Stonyfield Organic is one member of a healthy, knowledgeable, passionate community that will persevere and thrive, not just despite the current crisis, but because of how we faced it together.
